On the 24th, the city announced that it has completed the design for the 'Cheonhoji Nighttime Landscape Improvement and Space Specialization Project,' aimed at creating a key lake park that harmonizes human culture, arts, relaxation activities, and natural scenery, and has begun full-scale construction.
This project follows the spatial improvement of Cheonhoji Park carried out in 2022 and will be implemented until March 2025. It includes strengthening the connectivity between the park's internal and external spaces, creating themed spaces, providing shade within the park, installing facilities for park use, and improving nighttime lighting to ensure the safety of nighttime visitors and offer visual attractions.
New facilities within the park include 'Mannam-gil (Meeting Road),' a themed space that recreates the old railway (Anseong Line) that passed near Cheonhoji; 'Yeonkkot Sanchaek-gil (Lotus Walkway)' for residential comfort and barrier-free accessibility in the Green Yard; connecting paths; installation of a lookout pergola; and 'Photo Island,' a themed resting area utilizing an artificial island.
Additionally, the project reflects diverse visitor needs by expanding the performance space for busking at Eoulmadang, creating shaded resting areas at Cheongchun Plaza, maintaining Hwaeum Garden, and refurbishing the embankment walkway and the connection to Cheonan Stream.
Furthermore, nighttime lighting improvements aim to provide visual attractions while ensuring the safety of nighttime park visitors. The illumination levels near key habitats of legally protected species such as otters will be reduced or facilities will be excluded to minimize ecological impact.
