The 50th Jangbogo National Rowing Competition to Be Held at Seonakdong River in Busan
June 22 to 30 at Seonakdong River Rowing and Canoe Stadium, Over 600 Participants in 80 Events Across 20 Divisions
Busan City will host the '50th Jangbogo National Rowing Competition' at the Seonakdong River Rowing and Canoe Stadium from the 22nd to June 30th.
This competition was established in 1975 to honor the achievements of Maritime King Jangbogo and to lay the foundation for Korean rowing to expand globally. It is regarded as the most prestigious rowing event in the country.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the event is hosted by the city and the Korea Rowing Association, and organized by the Busan Rowing Association.
The competition is divided into two parts: Part 1 (22nd to 24th) for professional athletes, and Part 2 (29th to 30th) for amateur sports enthusiasts. Around 600 participants from across the country will compete in 80 events across 20 categories.
A total of 80 events will be held, including single sculls, coxless pairs, eights, and indoor rowing.
Certificates and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event, and the overall winning team in each category will receive a championship flag and trophy.
Park Geunrok, Director of Tourism and MICE at the city, stated, "Rowing is a sport of solidarity and cooperation, where teamwork among those in the same boat is crucial. We hope this competition will revitalize rowing and serve as an opportunity to foster outstanding athletes."
