Daechi-dong Academy District Transforms into 'Stress-Free Zone' Art Playground
Gangnam-gu to Host Experiential Exhibition Event 'After School Ajit' from June 14 to Year-End
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is conducting an art playground in front of academies called 'After School Hideout,' which exhibits experiential artworks in the stress-free zone of the Daechi-dong academy district.
The district planned this exhibition by signing an ESG business agreement with the art exhibition company ‘Gallery O.’ By utilizing the ‘10-Minute Therapy Zone’ established around the Daechi-dong academy area as the exhibition space, it aims to ▲help teenagers experience and heal through unique and enjoyable cultural and artistic exhibitions during their short breaks, and ▲provide young emerging artists with opportunities to introduce their works.
The exhibition project will be held a total of four times until the end of this year. The first work, ‘A Child with Many Secrets, An Age with Many Secrets’ by artist Shin Dain, is an experiential exhibition where teenagers can freely express and relieve stress by sharing the difficult emotions they face in their studies or friendships in their own secret hideout space.
The second exhibition starting in August, ‘Temperament Exploration’ by artist Noh Hyun-ji, will give students time to learn about their own temperament and, through this, understand themselves and their friends in ways they had not realized before. The third exhibition, ‘Peeking into the Artist’s Room,’ will recreate artists’ workspaces to help visitors nurture their future dreams, and the final exhibition, ‘Lighting the Lantern,’ will hold an event for making wishes in celebration of the year-end and New Year season.
Additionally, the ‘Painters Dream’ exhibition, showcasing works by artists with disabilities, will be held separately during the event period.
Each exhibition will be operated by selecting 2 to 3 of the 5 therapy zones that best match the exhibition themes. The first exhibition by artist Shin Dain is currently on display from June 14 for one month at the ‘Refresh Therapy Zone’ at Eunma Apartment Intersection and the ‘Fitness Therapy Zone’ in front of Dugak Academy. To allow people without access cards to view the exhibition, access cards are provided outside, and the therapy zone opening hours have been moved two hours earlier from 12 PM to 10 AM.
