Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has renovated all 51 streetlights along the Jungnangcheon embankment walking path to create a safer pedestrian environment.
The area had received numerous complaints about dim lighting due to aging facilities. In response, the district launched an illumination improvement project to ensure the safety of visitors. Over approximately three months, a budget of 51 million KRW was invested to brighten the previously dark walking path.
The existing 50W fixtures were replaced with 75W light-emitting diode (LED) streetlights. This change was made considering not only the increased brightness but also the improved energy efficiency. Additionally, the height of the streetlight poles was increased by 1 meter to minimize shadowed areas.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We improved the lighting on the walking path to reduce pedestrians’ anxiety and prevent safety accidents. We will continue to work on resolving daily inconveniences through regular patrols and facility maintenance.”
