Changwon Special City Expects to Expand Cooperation with Australia in Eco-Friendly Energy Industry
Australian House of Representatives Standing Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water Visits Changwon City
On the 18th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that it welcomed Tony Zappia, Chair of the Australian House of Representatives Standing Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water, at the mayor's reception room and discussed ways to promote energy industry exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The Australian Parliament operates under a two-party system, with the House of Representatives holding legislative authority. The Standing Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water, which corresponds to Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Ministry of Environment, is under the jurisdiction of Australia's Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and plays a key role in formulating Australia's energy policies.

View original imageThe visiting delegation, consisting of six members including the Chair and Vice Chair of the Australian House of Representatives Standing Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water, and the Economic Counselor of the Australian Embassy in Korea, met with Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon Special City to express their intention to cooperate and exchange in the fields of energy and eco-friendly industries. They also visited the Seongju Hydrogen Charging Station and Doosan Enerbility, showing great interest in Changwon as a leading city in the hydrogen industry and in the sites of eco-friendly energy industry companies.
Mayor Hong Nam-pyo said, "Since signing a friendship city agreement with Geelong, Australia in 2022, we have steadily continued our exchange and cooperation relationship. Through this visit by the Chair and delegation of the Australian House of Representatives Standing Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water, I hope we can expand cooperation in future energy industries, including the hydrogen sector, and share a vision for sustainable environmental policies together."
