Dongdaemun-gu and Samyuk Food Join Forces for Carbon Neutrality Cooperation
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samyook Food (President Jeon Gwang-jin) on the 17th for ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality Community Implementation and Sustainable Urban Development.’
This MOU represents a joint effort by both organizations to establish a continuous cooperative relationship aimed at raising residents' awareness and encouraging actions toward achieving carbon neutrality.
The signing ceremony held at the mayor’s office was attended by key figures including Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and Jeon Gwang-jin, President of Samyook Food. They agreed to collaborate on ▲building carbon neutrality infrastructure and spreading lifestyle practices ▲cooperating on local joint projects for carbon neutrality and sustainable development ▲promoting carbon neutrality culture through employee and local resident education, publicity, and campaigns.
Founded in 1982, Samyook Food is a health food company that leads environmental culture for ESG management under the slogan ‘There is no second Earth,’ and contributes to society through domestic and international relief and social volunteer activities.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Achieving a sustainable carbon-neutral city can be accomplished through the participation of various community stakeholders,” and added, “We hope this agreement will serve as a catalyst for revitalizing public-private cooperation.”

Meanwhile, on April 29, Dongdaemun-gu formed ‘Carbon Talks Dongdaemun,’ a carbon-neutral citizen practice organization involving diverse community stakeholders, and began full-scale subcommittee activities starting in June.
