Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Presents Direction for Copyright Protection and Enforcement Overseas
'International Copyright Protection Symposium' Held in Vietnam
Sharing Laws and Systems Through Presentations by Experts from Various Fields
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the 'World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) International Copyright Protection and Enforcement Symposium' in Hanoi, Vietnam, for four days starting from the 17th. This is an international cooperation program prepared in collaboration with WIPO. It expands on the 'Copyright Protection and Enforcement Officers Meeting' held in 2019 and last year.
About thirty public and private experts from fifteen countries, along with international specialists, will attend the event. They will exchange and share key information and experiences on global copyright protection and enforcement in the digital environment.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has prepared presentations by experts from various fields to share Korea's experiences, laws, and systems. So-young An, Officer of the Cultural Trade Cooperation Division at the Ministry, will introduce the Korean government's policies on copyright protection and enforcement and the economic contributions of the creative industries. Yong-il Lee, Head of Overseas Exchange at the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, will present the agency's activities in responding to copyright infringement, including the online monitoring system.
Professor Dae-hee Lee of Korea University will present on the development status of Korean copyright-related case law and future tasks regarding copyright protection and enforcement. Professor Kyung-sook Kim of Sangmyung University will discuss the Korea Copyright Protection Agency's review and administrative measures related to copyright infringement.

Hyang-mi Jeong, Director of the Copyright Bureau at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "With the advancement of digital technology, issues of illegal reproduction and distribution of works have become severe, causing significant damage to K-content. We hope that through this symposium, various cooperative systems can be established between governments and between the private sector and government."
