Over 10,000 Amateur Sports Club Members Hold Friendly Matches
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2024 Changwon Special City Citizens' Harmony Unified Sports Festival,' a major event for sports enthusiasts, at Changwon Gymnasium with over 2,200 participants from local sports clubs.
This event, hosted by the Changwon Sports Council, organized by member sports associations, and sponsored by Changwon Special City, was arranged to promote citizens' health and unity through sports. Over 10,000 club members participated in 39 sports, including tennis, volleyball, and badminton, showcasing their skills over two days, on the 15th and 16th, at Changwon Gymnasium and other venues for each sport.

View original imageAt the opening ceremony held on the 15th, pre-event performances included shows by the MK Dance Team and trot singers to celebrate the sports festival. The official program featured commendations for contributors to sports development, congratulatory speeches from guests, an athletes' oath, and performances, all warmly received by sports enthusiasts and citizens.
Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo encouraged the participants, saying, "I hope this will be a time to fully demonstrate the skills you have honed and to foster harmony and friendship," and added, "We will continue to expand sports infrastructure and promote various programs to further boost the enthusiasm for sports in Changwon, a healthy city with a leisurely lifestyle."
