Hapcheon County Introduces Low-Floor Garbage Trucks to Prevent Sanitation Worker Accidents
Rearview Camera, Dual-Hand Operation Safety Switch
Safety Stop Bar and Other Safety Devices
Hapcheon County, Gyeongnam Province, recently announced on the 13th that it has introduced a Korean-style low-floor garbage truck designed with the work environment and safety of sanitation workers in mind.
Existing garbage trucks did not have a separate boarding area other than the driver's and passenger's seats, making it difficult for sanitation workers to collect waste.
The newly introduced low-floor garbage truck features a separate, low-height boarding area between the driver's seat and the collection compartment, allowing workers to safely and conveniently get on and off the vehicle during collection work. It is expected to contribute to both convenience and the prevention of safety accidents during waste collection.
In addition to convenience, the new truck is equipped with safety features such as a rearview camera, dual-hand operation safety switch, and a safety stop bar, enabling sanitation workers to work more safely.
The county has also purchased two state-of-the-art food waste collection vehicles to further improve the efficiency of collection operations.
Suh Wonho, head of the Environmental Sanitation Division, said, "We will continue our efforts to create a safe working environment for sanitation workers."
