K-Medical Heading to the Middle East... Opening of Qatar Korean Medical Center
The Korea Health Industry Development Institute announced on the 12th that four Korean medical institutions?Lime Tree Dental Clinic, Seoul Asan Hospital, Angang Hospital, and JK Plastic Surgery?jointly held the opening ceremony of the Qatar Korea Medical Center (KMC) established in Doha, Qatar, on the 10th (local time).
KMC, a state-of-the-art specialized clinic center built on a 40,000㎡, 10-story scale, will be jointly operated by Lime Tree Dental Clinic, Seoul Asan Hospital, Angang Hospital, and JK Plastic Surgery. Each medical institution plans to start providing medical services sequentially.
In the first phase, Lime Tree Dental Clinic will begin dental treatments including implants; Angang Hospital will provide treatment and rehabilitation/physical therapy for chronic pain related to the spine and joints (musculoskeletal system); JK Plastic Surgery will start cosmetic surgery, aesthetics, anti-aging, and stem cell treatments. In the second phase, Seoul Asan Hospital will open orthopedic and infertility centers along with a large-scale stem cell production facility.
The opening of KMC is described as the fruition of long-term efforts for the overseas expansion of Korean medical services. Particularly, the joint entry of the four Korean medical institutions signifies the recognition of the excellence of Korean healthcare in Qatar. Angang Hospital was also selected for the Korea Health Industry Development Institute’s ’Project Support Program‘ last year and received direct support during the full-scale opening phase of KMC.
The KMC case is expected to serve as a new model for the joint overseas expansion of specialized medical institutions, with the hospital functioning as a platform. It is anticipated to create a virtuous cycle by expanding opportunities for the linked and joint overseas expansion of Korea’s excellent medical equipment, consumables, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, diagnostic tests, health checkups, and other related medical industries.
