Shinan-gun Recognizes the Value of the Elderly in an Aging Society
Awarding Longevity Merit Awards to Seniors Aged 95 and Above
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 11th that it awarded longevity merit awards to residents aged 95 and older in the region to express respect and gratitude toward the elderly in an aging society.
This aims to recognize the valuable contributions of the elderly and respect them as important members of the local community.
In April, Shinan-gun partially amended its award ordinance to establish the longevity merit award, which is given to seniors aged 95 and older residing in Shinan-gun.
Hong Mo (106), a recipient of the longevity merit award, said, “I am grateful to have spent my entire life in Shinan-gun, living happily and with a better life,” and added, “I am happy and thankful to receive this award.”
Governor Park Woo-ryang expressed, “I deeply thank the elders who have led Shinan until today,” and said, “We will do our best to ensure that the elderly can continue to live healthy and happy lives.”
Through this longevity merit award ceremony, Shinan-gun recognized the contributions and value of the elderly and demonstrated an attitude of cherishing seniors even in an aging society.
