Resident general meetings are in full swing in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro). The resident general meeting is a 'public forum for residents' where residents directly propose and discover village agendas, discuss them together, go through a deliberation process, and decide on resident autonomy projects to be promoted next year.
Starting with Jongam-dong on the 1st of this month, resident general meetings were held in Jangwi 1-dong and Jangwi 2-dong on the 3rd. Resident general meetings will be held in all remaining neighborhoods, concluding with Seongbuk-dong on the 9th of next month.
Especially this year, a 'resident harmony type' resident general meeting with culture and experience was planned to attract more participation and response from residents.
At the Jongam-dong resident general meeting held at Sungnye Elementary School on the 1st, a resident singing contest was held beforehand, creating a wonderful stage where residents expressed their enthusiasm and talent. About 450 residents attended the Jongam-dong resident general meeting on that day, sitting around round tables to listen to explanations of 14 village agendas and gather opinions. In addition, through confirmation and agreement of the results of the advance voting (1,125 participants), the priority of resident autonomy projects for next year was decided. The voting result of the Jongam-dong resident general meeting selected 'Eco Land' as the top priority resident autonomy project for next year, receiving the most votes.
The Jangwi 1-dong resident general meeting was held at Jangwi Central Church on the 3rd. About 250 residents attended on-site that day, and 1,066 people participated in advance voting conducted both online and offline, indicating more interest from residents in the resident general meeting than ever before. The voting result that day selected 'JangWE-ro Pine Tree Festival' as the top priority resident autonomy project for next year, receiving the most votes among 12 village agendas.
At the Jangwi 2-dong resident general meeting held at Seonggwang Church on the same day, despite the low population due to redevelopment, 300 people participated on-site and 555 participated in advance voting, showing high interest in resident autonomy. The resident voting result selected 'Protect the Earth with the Environmental Action Group' as the top priority resident autonomy project for next year among 7 village agendas.
