Kumho Tire Begins Collective Bargaining This Year
Kumho Tire held a preliminary collective bargaining meeting at the Gwangju factory on the 5th, marking the official start of negotiations.
The preliminary meeting was attended by 16 people, including CEO Jeong Il-taek, Park Rae-pil, Senior Deputy Head of the Metal Workers' Union Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch, company representatives such as Kim Myung-seon, Vice President of Production Technology, and labor representatives including Hwang Yong-pil, Chief Branch Chairperson.
The meeting proceeded with introductions of the labor and management negotiation committee members, followed by greetings from the CEO and chief negotiators. Both labor and management representatives shared the recognition that this collective bargaining is crucial for Kumho Tire’s performance improvement to be not a temporary achievement but a foundation for sustainable growth.
CEO Jeong Il-taek said, “The good results in ’23 are the outcome of labor and management overcoming difficulties wisely, and I would like to thank all employees. Moving forward, we have the ongoing task of delivering continuous results, and I hope we create those opportunities through the highest quality. I believe labor and management are a community of destiny, and I hope the negotiators reach a good agreement.”
Kim Myung-seon, Vice President of Production Technology and company representative, said, “’23 was a year of achievements through the efforts of employees and the entire company, and we must strive to sustain these results. I hope labor and management put their heads together and conclude the negotiations smoothly.”

Fair distribution, the future vision of domestic factories, and issues concerning overseas factories must be jointly addressed by labor and management as co-resolvers seeking solutions.”
