<Muan County Council Member Lee Hoseong: "Muan International Airport Should Specify Strategies to Develop as a New Industry Hub">

5-Minute Free Speech... Emphasizing the Need for Strategic Asset Allocation and Establishment of a Strategy Department

On the 3rd, Lee Ho-seong, a member of the Muan County Council in Jeollanam-do, delivered a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 1st regular meeting of the 294th session on the topic of “Strategic Response Measures for Fostering New Industry Hubs Around Muan International Airport.”

Lee first explained the background of his remarks, stating, “Although the overall population of the county is on the rise due to the accelerated development of the Oryong district, the polarization between the new town areas and rural areas is intensifying to the extent that there are concerns about regional extinction in rural areas. It is urgent to establish a future balanced development strategy to resolve this.”

He continued, “Our county established the Vision 2040 Muan County Long-term Development Comprehensive Plan last February, proposing a future strategic project up to 2040. Now, we need to concretize the roadmap for fostering new industry hubs around Muan International Airport, including station area development centered on key infrastructure such as Muan International Airport and the Honam Line KTX stop.”

He added, “Above all, strategic asset allocation through selection and concentration is necessary. Through designing policy priorities considering feasibility and ripple effects, resources should be intensively allocated to key strategic tasks and core projects.”

In particular, he emphasized the necessity of establishing a dedicated strategic department by saying, “Since the major directions and strategic tasks for fostering new industry hubs at Muan International Airport have been presented, we should preemptively plan for the establishment of a dedicated department to realize future food industry projects with bold imagination.”

Lee Ho-seong concluded his 5-minute free speech by saying, “‘Fostering new industry hubs around Muan International Airport’ is a century-long plan for building the future of Muan. I hope that the proposals made today will be constructively reviewed and contribute to securing Muan County’s future competitiveness.”
