On the 29th (local time), Park Chang-ho, CEO of SG, along with key executives of SG, visited the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure to discuss cooperation on the local road reconstruction project, including the demonstration test, with provincial government officials. Attendees included Mustafa Nayem, Director of the Road Reconstruction and Development Department at the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, Olek Pyodorenko, Director of the Road Bureau at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Andriy Chevanitsky, Research Fellow, and Andrey Nazarenko, CEO of SGU (SG Ukraine), among others.
Last year, SG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mykolaiv provincial government for cooperation on road reconstruction and modernization. This test is a preliminary trial paving stage to commercialize SG’s Eco Steel Ascon ahead of full-scale road paving following the MOU signing.
The demonstration test is scheduled to be conducted on the two-lane P06 highway, spanning approximately 230 kilometers (km) round-trip from Mykolaiv province to the central Kirovohrad province. One 1 km section will be paved with conventional Ascon manufactured locally in Ukraine, while another 1 km section will be paved with Eco Steel Ascon using slag. A comprehensive quality comparison evaluation will be conducted on aspects such as ▲strength ▲economy ▲noise ▲pavement condition. SG plans to prove the superiority of Eco Steel Ascon through this trial paving evaluation and subsequently pave the entire 230 km stretch of the P06 highway with Eco Steel Ascon.
An SG official stated, “We have been discussing the road reconstruction project with the Mykolaiv provincial government since last year, and specific negotiations on construction progress are currently underway. The demonstration test is also part of the agreement. We will coordinate the production schedule with DS Prom Group, which has signed a contract for entrusted production of Eco Steel Ascon locally in Ukraine, to immediately produce the Ascon needed for the paving test.”
