Gyeonggi-do Activates 'Emergency Response Situation Room' to Counter North Korea's Sewage Balloons
Gyeonggi Province activated the 'Emergency Preparedness Situation Room' on the 2nd to respond to North Korea's 'filth balloons.'
Gyeonggi Province announced that, following the discovery of filth balloons suspected to be North Korean anti-South Korea leaflets across the province, it has established and is operating the 'Gyeonggi Province Emergency Preparedness Situation Room' in coordination with the Capital Corps, 1st Corps, 5th Corps, Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency, Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency, Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters to strengthen the protection of residents' safety starting from that day.
Earlier, on the 1st, Gyeonggi Province has been operating the 'Civil Defense Alarm Situation Room' 24 hours a day in preparation for emergencies related to North Korea's filth balloons. Additionally, at the military's request, at around 9:10 PM on the same day, safety alert messages were sent to 31 cities and counties within the province.
A Gyeonggi Province official urged, "If you find an object suspected to be a filth balloon, please do not touch or open it under any circumstances, and report it to the military unit's resident reporting network at 1338 or the nearest police station."
