Songpa-gu to Host 'Love for Environment Festival' on Environment Day, July 4
Also Hosting Cultural Performance Events
Songpa-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will hold the "Love for Environment Festival" on the 4th of next month at the central stage area of Seokchon Lake East Lake. This event was planned with the hope that it will serve as an opportunity to accurately recognize our situation, where extreme weather such as floods, droughts, and wildfires are becoming increasingly severe due to climate change, threatening not only natural ecosystems but also human safety, and to encourage everyone to start practicing even one action for our one and only Earth from today.
The festival features cultural performances and green tech from companies that value the environment, an upcycling and zero-waste flea market dreaming of reusing resources, and a space to raise awareness about the seriousness of the climate crisis and actions that can be taken starting today.
The Environment Day commemorative ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with performances by the Songpa-gu Silver Choir and children from Garak 2-dong Kiwoom Center. From 11:30 a.m., there will be a Love for Environment busking performance, and the day will conclude with the Environment Day commemorative performance at 6 p.m.
To approach the theme of the environment in an engaging way and improve awareness, environmental and cultural performances are intertwined. The performances include environmental magic shows, recycled instrument performances that let you hear the sounds of discarded plastics, environmental dance performances conveying the meaning of environmental conservation, and acapella.
Additionally, around the central stage, a total of 18 companies and organizations including Lotte Corporation, Hyundai Motor Company, Nongshim, Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation, and Seoul National University College of Medicine will operate environmental experience booths. On this day, if you bring your own tumbler, 2,000 refreshing drinks will be provided.
