View original imagePresident Yoon Suk-yeol has decided to dispatch a congratulatory special envoy delegation composed of former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong and People Power Party lawmaker Kang Min-kuk to the inauguration ceremony of Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, scheduled for the 1st of next month.
According to the presidential office on the 30th, President Yoon plans to convey his congratulations to President Bukele through the special envoy delegation. The delegation will also deliver a letter expressing the hope to closely cooperate in order to further strengthen the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries.
President Bukele was re-elected in the presidential election held on February 4th with 82.66% of the vote. The voting rate was announced by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of El Salvador on the 9th of the same month.
Taking the opportunity of attending the inauguration ceremony, the special envoy delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with high-ranking officials of El Salvador, hold a gathering with compatriots, and visit Korean companies on site.

The presidential office explained, "El Salvador has been our long-standing ally in the Central American region," adding, "Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1962, the two countries have steadily developed a friendly cooperative relationship in various fields such as politics, economy, and infrastructure."
