The target area is "Pyeongchang Munhwaro," which starts from the Singyeongdong Samgeori intersection and extends to the Bukak Tunnel, with a width of 26 meters and a length of approximately 1.9 km. This additional designation aims to promote efficient land use, encourage new development, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by adding Pyeongchang Munhwaro to the existing 11 sunlight exclusion zones within the district, including Jinheung-ro. It is also expected to enhance the aesthetic function of building facades by preventing the creation of stepped buildings.
The district conducted an administrative notice and collected residents' opinions from May 14 to June 2, and plans to implement the "Sunlight Exclusion Zone" starting from the 3rd of next month.
Meanwhile, according to related regulations including the Building Act, the permit authority can apply to designate a sunlight exclusion zone for sites adjacent to roads wider than 20 meters (limited to general residential areas) for the purpose of improving urban aesthetics.
