SK Eco to Pursue Stake Sale in US Battery Recycling Company
SK Ecoplant is planning to sell its stake in Ascend Elements, a US battery recycling company it invested in two years ago.
According to the construction industry on the 29th, SK Ecoplant has decided to sell its stake in Ascend Elements and is currently looking for potential buyers. SK Ecoplant holds about 13% of the company's shares.
The decision to sell the stake is analyzed to be due to the recent increase in Ascend Elements' valuation.
Ascend Elements, which possesses technology to extract rare metals from used batteries, has recently been recognized as an "innovative company" in the US, with its valuation rising about 3 to 4 times compared to when SK Ecoplant began purchasing shares in 2022. The company's current valuation is estimated at around 2 trillion won.
