Silla University Selected as Lead Institution for 'Busan City Light Pollution Prevention Plan' Project
Shilla University (President Heo Namsik) was recently selected as the lead institution for the "Busan Light Pollution Prevention Plan" project, taking the initiative to address the issue of light pollution in Busan.
The "Busan Light Pollution Prevention Plan" project is being promoted under the vision of "Busan, the City of Light in a Bright and Vibrant World," aiming to create a city with quality lighting that reflects Busan's unique characteristics.
In 2023, Shilla University was chosen as the measurement agency for the "Busan Light Pollution Environmental Impact Assessment," achieving significant results by evaluating the impact of light pollution not only on the living environment of Busan citizens, such as housing, safety, and health, but also on nature and industry.
Accordingly, Busan City has selected Shilla University as the agency for the "Busan Light Pollution Prevention Plan," which will be implemented from 2025 to 2029, to design new light pollution management policies. The plan will establish measures for the entire city, including: ▲ current status and outlook of light pollution ▲ specific goals and basic directions of the prevention plan ▲ sectoral and phased measures for prevention ▲ education and publicity strategies regarding light pollution.
