Gunwi-gun Cancels 72 Million Won Budget Plan, Won't Use Video Filmed with YouTuber 'Pisik Daehak'
After Much Deliberation, Decided Not to Use Pisik University Content
Gunwi County in Daegu has decided not to use a regional promotional video filmed with the YouTube channel 'Pisik University,' which was embroiled in controversy for disparaging Yeongyang County in Gyeongbuk.
According to Gunwi County on the 27th, a promotional video about 30 minutes long introducing various parts of the region was filmed last month with the cast of Pisik University, but it was decided not to post the video.
Gunwi County also canceled the plan to spend 72 million won on promotion expenses.
Previously, Pisik University was involved in a controversy for disparaging the region in the 'Made in Gyeongsangdo' series, specifically the Yeongyang episode. In the video, the cast members, while traveling in Yeongyang County, made remarks such as "I thought they were Chinese" and, while eating local specialties, said "It feels like tearing off a grandmother's flesh," which drew public criticism.
