Hamas "Captured Israeli Soldiers as Prisoners in Gaza Strip"... Israel Immediately Denies
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian armed group Hamas, claimed on the 26th (local time) that they had captured Israeli soldiers during combat. However, Israel immediately denied the claim.
According to major foreign media on the 26th, Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, stated that they had taken Israeli soldiers prisoner in Jabaliya, northern Gaza Strip, on the same day.
Spokesperson Ubaida said, "Our fighters lured the Zionist army (Israeli military) into tunnels, ambushed them, killed, captured, and wounded them." The video also showed weapons and equipment reportedly used by the Israeli military.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) emphasized in a statement, "We clearly state that no soldier has been kidnapped."
