[Breaking] Ministry of Health and Welfare: "383,000 Telemedicine Cases at Clinic Level Over 10 Weeks... Daily Average 5,600 Cases"
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 24th that since fully allowing all medical institutions, including clinics and hospitals, to conduct telemedicine without distinguishing between initial and follow-up visits in February, the number of telemedicine cases has significantly increased.
Analyzing medical institution claim data from February 23 to the 30th of last month, about 10 weeks in total, the Ministry reported that telemedicine at the clinic level totaled 383,286 cases, averaging 5,637 cases per day. Telemedicine at the hospital level totaled 2,009 cases, with an average of 30 cases claimed daily.
Park Min-su, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, stated at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters briefing on the doctors' collective action held that day, "Considering that it takes about one to three months for medical institutions to claim medical fees, it is expected that even more citizens have actually used telemedicine."
