Public-Private 'K-Design Industry Dialogue' Launched... "AI Design Innovation Strategy to Be Announced Soon"
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it has formed the 'K-Design Industry Dialogue,' co-chaired by First Vice Minister Kang Kyung-sung and Kim Hyun-sun, President of the Korea Design Organizations Federation, and held the first meeting on the 22nd at the Korea Institute of Design Promotion's main conference room. The K-Design Industry Dialogue is a public-private joint policy platform to discuss design policy tasks for the implementation of the 'K-Design Innovation Strategy' announced last June. It consists of 13 members from major design industries and organizations, including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, LG Household & Health Care, Model Solution, SWNA, Plus X, and 29CM (Musinsa).
At this first meeting, discussions were held on ▲ directions for promoting design advancement projects and ▲ plans to reorganize design research and development (R&D). Additionally, based on proposals from the design industry, plans were discussed to ▲ establish a 'Design Day' to boost designers' pride and awareness of the importance of design, and ▲ review the enactment and revision of design-related laws to reorganize governance for the promotion policies of the design industry.

First Vice Minister Kang Kyung-sung stated, "With the rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence (AI) recently, the landscape of the design industry and the competencies required of designers are changing significantly. We will promptly announce an AI design dissemination strategy in the first half of the year after gathering industry opinions, and actively support discussions centered on the K-Design Industry Dialogue regarding key design policies such as creating a growth foundation for design companies, enhancing design utilization rates, and improving design rights and transaction systems."
