Seokgyeong AT Establishes Solid Electrolyte Analysis and Evaluation Lab for All-Solid-State Batteries
Seokgyeong AT announced on the 21st that it has established an all-solid-state battery solid electrolyte analysis and evaluation laboratory (cleanroom) to enhance the efficiency of its ongoing research and development project on borate-based solid electrolyte materials.
Seokgyeong AT is investing approximately 800 million KRW to build a 103㎡ cleanroom. The equipment setup is scheduled to be completed next month, with full operation planned to begin in July.
The main equipment inside the cleanroom includes △ a synthesis furnace △ pretreatment devices for material molding △ electrical characteristic analysis equipment △ battery cyclers, among others.
Conventional sulfide-based solid electrolytes are sensitive to moisture and may generate harmful hydrogen sulfide gas, requiring a special facility called a dry room. In contrast, the borate-based solid electrolyte developed by Seokgyeong AT is not sensitive to moisture and has a low possibility of harmful gas generation, making a cleanroom alone sufficient. This feature provides high safety and economic efficiency. Additionally, it boasts excellent conductivity and uses low-cost raw materials such as borates, ensuring price competitiveness.
A company representative emphasized, "By accelerating the research and development of borate-based solid electrolytes through this cleanroom establishment, we expect to present new innovations and alternatives in the solid electrolyte battery industry."
Meanwhile, in April last year, Seokgyeong AT filed a total of six patents related to all-solid-state battery solid electrolyte materials, including "Borate-based molten salt solid electrolyte and its manufacturing method." The company is currently constructing a third factory to establish a production base for these materials.
