Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) opened the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 14th to thoroughly prepare for summer flood and wind disasters and has begun full-scale operations.
The Flood and Wind Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is headed by the district mayor and consists of a total of 13 task forces and 68 members, including the ▲ Situation Management General Team ▲ Traffic Countermeasures Team ▲ Search, Rescue, and First Aid Team. Emergency duty is carried out in stages according to weather alerts, and it operates 24 hours a day until October 15.
The opening ceremony was attended by district executives and local autonomous disaster prevention group leaders, and proceeded with a plaque unveiling ceremony, a 2024 flood and wind disaster countermeasure report, and viewing of a flood and wind disaster promotional video.
The district is promoting 2024 flood and wind disaster countermeasures through various projects, including maintenance of major flood control facilities and flood-prone areas (facilities), ▲ installation of flood prevention facilities for semi-basement and underground houses ▲ dredging of sewage pipes and cleaning of rainwater inlets ▲ stockpiling of disaster relief supplies and securing temporary housing facilities for disaster victims ▲ support for flood and wind disaster insurance premiums.
In particular, this year, a preliminary reinforcement duty stage has been newly established to prepare for heavy rain due to unstable atmospheric conditions. Various organizations such as the ‘Flood Disaster Vulnerable Companion Partner’ for rapid response during flood warnings and alerts, and the ‘River Patrol Team’ to prevent isolation accidents in Jungnangcheon Stream, will be organized to systematically respond to emergencies.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “It is necessary to have thorough preparation against flood and wind disasters centered on the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters,” and added, “We will do our best to implement flood control measures so that all residents can have a safe summer.”
