Enjoy K-Gugak in Gangnam?... Jointly Hosted by KBS Gugak Hanmadang
Performance for 100 minutes from 7 PM on the 25th at Gaepodong Maru Park... From Gugak Dream Trees to Myungchang All Gathered -
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will co-host a Gugak Hanmadang event with KBS. The performance will take place at 7 PM on May 25th at Maru Park in Gaepo-dong.
This event is planned under the theme "A Hip Gugak Hanmadang with Gangnam-gu, the Cradle of Gugak." Gangnam-gu possesses various Gugak assets, including the National Gugak Middle and High School (located in Gaepo-dong), which nurtures future talents of K-Gugak, and the Seoul National Intangible Cultural Heritage Center (located in Samseong-dong), which preserves and transmits traditional culture. Through this performance, the district aims to revitalize Gugak culture within the local community and contribute to the development of Korean traditional music nationwide.
The performance features musical, vocal, and dance acts by students of the National Gugak Middle and High School, as well as top Gugak artists representing Korea’s BIG3 vocalists?Nam Sang-il, Shin Seung-tae, and Kim Jun-su?and master singer Lee Chun-hee. Additionally, diverse attractions include artist Yoo Hee-ska, who presents unique fusion music combining tradition and modernity, and tightrope walking master Nam Chang-dong.
The venue has 1,500 seats available, and free admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 5 PM on the day of the event. The performance will be broadcast on KBS1 TV at 12:10 PM on June 8th.
