Jeonbuk Governor Kim Jong-hoon Takes Swift Steps to Create a Safe Jeonbuk Workplace
On the 16th, Direct Safety Inspection of Jinan Highland Market and Maisan
Deputy Governor Kim: "Let's Strengthen Proactive, Field-Centered Safety Management"
Kim Jong-hoon, Deputy Governor for Economy of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, recently raised awareness about safety following a series of accidents in the Jeonbuk region and rolled up his sleeves for intensive safety inspections this year.
According to Jeonbuk Province on the 16th, a joint inspection team led by Deputy Governor Kim, consisting of public officials from Jinan County, Jinan Fire Station, and experts in construction, electricity, and gas fields, visited the Jinan Highland Market and Maisan Traveler Center to conduct on-site safety inspections.
Jinan Highland Market is a mart-type market with 58 stores selling local specialties such as ginseng and chili peppers, as well as various agricultural products, meat, daily necessities, and clothing. Ten stores are also located in the youth mall. Maisan Traveler Center, along with a traveler rest area, has an indoor children's playground that is popular among infants and toddlers in the province.
On the 16th, a joint inspection team led by Jeonbuk Province's Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Kim Jong-hoon, along with public officials from Jinan County, Jinan Fire Station, and experts in architecture, electrical, and gas fields, visited the Jinan Plateau Market and Maisan Traveler Center sites to conduct a direct safety inspection.

The inspection involved experts from each field and public officials visiting each store to check for building damage and cracks, proper operation of circuit breakers, wire damage, use of octopus-style multi-tap power strips, corrosion and leakage of gas pipes, and more. Firefighters from Jinan Fire Station also meticulously checked the status of receivers, sprinklers, emergency lights, and whether any items were stored in front of fire hydrants.
Deputy Governor Kim instructed the inspection team, "The number one cause of fires in traditional markets is electrical factors. Please prepare measures to respond immediately when a fire occurs due to electrical short circuits during nighttime when no one is present," and urged market merchants, "Since this is a facility used by many people, please pay attention to safety and focus on improving pointed-out issues."
Next, the inspection team moved to Maisan Traveler Center and received an explanation of recent inspection results from a specialized agency for children's facilities. They carefully checked the operating status by physically moving the installed facilities. Deputy Governor Kim requested, "Since safety accidents can easily occur in children's facilities due to unexpected situations such as children bumping into each other or getting their hands caught in narrow gaps, those in charge should pay close attention to even the smallest details."
Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Province is operating an intensive safety inspection period from April 22 to June 21 in cooperation with cities and counties, inspecting a total of 1,537 places including 19 traditional markets and 79 children's facilities.
