Jindo County Council Holds Monthly Meeting of Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association

Adoption of the "2 Million Residents' Unity Resolution for the Establishment of a National Medical School in Jeonnam"

The Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association (Chairman Kang Pil-gu, Chairman of Yeonggwang County Council) held the “292nd Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association Monthly Meeting” on the 14th at Soll Beach Jindo.

Hosted by Jindo County Council (Chairman Jang Young-woo), the monthly meeting was attended by about 30 people, including chairpersons of city and county councils in the Jeonnam region, the Jindo County Governor, provincial council members, Jindo County Council members, and heads of organizations.

At the opening ceremony held prior to the meeting, the Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association awarded the Local Council Service Award to Councilor Lee Hyun-myung for his contribution to the development of local councils through productive legislative activities, and presented a plaque of appreciation to Jindo County Governor Kim Hee-soo, who has led the development of local councils as a partner in realizing true grassroots resident autonomy.

In the subsequent main meeting, the results of the 258th Korea City, County, and Autonomous District Council Chairpersons Association Provincial Representatives Meeting were shared, and various opinions were exchanged regarding common legislative activities and cooperation matters such as festivals among cities and counties.

In particular, the “Resolution for the Unity of 2 Million Residents for the Establishment of a National Medical School in Jeonnam” was adopted, pledging to refrain from actions that promote conflict and confrontation between the eastern and western regions and to unite all residents in efforts to secure 200 admission quotas for the Jeonnam National Medical School in the 2026 university entrance examination.

Chairman Jang Young-woo, who presided over the meeting, said in his welcoming remarks, “Our Jindo County is steadily moving forward toward a hopeful future based on various resources,” and added, “I hope today’s meeting will be a place of harmony where we communicate for the prosperity of the local community and unite with one heart and mind for the development of Jeonnam.”

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association monthly meeting is a regular meeting held every month to seek ways to develop local autonomy and regional mutual growth, and to strengthen the cooperation system on current issues and common interests among city and county councils.
