Gwangju Science Museum and Chosun University Join Hands to Foster Space Talent
The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on the 16th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chosun University to lead advanced space technology and nurture space experts.
The signing ceremony held at the Chosun University Main Building Cheongchuleorum was attended by Lee Jeong-gu, director of the National Gwangju Science Museum, Kim Chun-sung, president of Chosun University, and more than 20 key officials from both institutions.
Through this MOU, both institutions agreed to actively invest capabilities and resources to develop advanced space technology and establish a specialized space education system in line with the new space era, aiming to lead the space industry.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ mutual cooperation for carrying out space optical communication technology missions ▲ establishment of a specialized space education system to lead future space technology ▲ joint utilization of personnel and programs related to mutual education and research.

Lee Jeong-gu, director of the Gwangju Science Museum, stated, “We hope to successfully achieve Korea’s first space optical communication by actively utilizing the 1.2m aperture reflecting telescope owned by the National Gwangju Science Museum, and we hope this will be an opportunity to contribute to the local community through the development of the space industry and nurturing space talent.”
