Kyodo News reported that the 6th discharge will take place from the 17th until the 4th of next month. The discharge volume will be 7,800 tons, the same as previous rounds.
TEPCO explained that prior to the discharge of contaminated water treated by the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS), samples were taken from measurement and verification tanks and analyzed, confirming that standards were met.
Previously, TEPCO began the first ocean discharge in August last year and has since released approximately 39,000 tons of contaminated water into the sea in front of the Fukushima nuclear plant over five rounds.
