Korean National Police University Attends the 8th General Assembly of the Asian Association of Police Education Institutions
Held at the Hanoi People's Police School in Vietnam
The Korean National Police University announced on the 16th that it held the 8th General Assembly of the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia (APTA) at the People's Police School located in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia is a multilateral cooperation platform established in February 2017, led by the Korean National Police University, to broaden mutual understanding and exchange among police training institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and to strengthen international cooperation in police education and training.
The Korean National Police University serves as the secretariat and chair of APTA, while the Mongolian Police University and the People's Police School of Vietnam hold vice-chair positions. A total of 34 institutions from 19 Asian countries participate as members or dialogue cooperation institutions.
At the 8th regular general assembly held on the 15th, 54 delegates from 20 institutions across 13 countries attended. The agenda included the admission of the East Timor Police Training Center as a member, the 2024-2028 activity program, the APTA online lecture series, and preparations for the Police Academy Student Festival in Asia scheduled to be held at the Royal Police Cadet Academy in Thailand in September 2024.
Lee Jae-young, Acting President of the Korean National Police University and Chair of APTA, delivered a welcoming speech, stating, “Since its founding in 2017, APTA has grown into a multilateral cooperation platform that shares knowledge and builds cooperative relationships among member institutions. Through the 2024-2028 activity program announced at this general assembly, we will support active exchanges.”
Meanwhile, prior to the APTA general assembly, the Korean National Police University delegation visited the People's Police University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on the 13th, where they held a cordial meeting with President Tran Thanh Hung to promote exchange and cooperation between the two countries' police training institutions.

Through this meeting, based on the academic exchange agreement (MOU) signed in 2013 with the People's Police University of Vietnam, the Korean National Police University signed a mutual cooperation implementation agreement that includes revitalizing the exchange student system, encouraging participation in APTA exchange cooperation programs, and discovering new security official development assistance (ODA) projects.
