The Korea-ASEAN Startup Policy Dialogue is a consultative body where the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the ASEAN SME Coordinating Committee discuss the creation of a sustainable and inclusive ASEAN startup ecosystem. It has been responsible for the practical implementation of Korea-ASEAN startup cooperation established during the Korea-ASEAN Special Summit held in Busan in 2019.

At this 8th policy dialogue, the progress of nine key implementation plans of the Korea-ASEAN Startup Policy Roadmap agreed upon in 2022 and other cooperative projects were mainly discussed. Seven tasks, including the Women Startup Leaders Forum, have been completed, and two projects, such as the Korea-ASEAN Unicorn Nurturing Project, are planned to be promoted after undergoing the Korea-ASEAN Cooperation Fund review process.

Choi Won-young, Director General for Global Growth Policy, said, “It is especially meaningful to hold the Startup Policy Dialogue in the year marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Korea-ASEAN dialogue relations,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to strengthen policy cooperation between both sides.”
