Yeongdeok-gun, 49 Foreign Seasonal Agricultural Workers Arrive
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, completed the entry procedures for 49 foreign seasonal workers from three countries?Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand?on the 13th to alleviate labor shortages in local farms.
The foreign seasonal worker program is a system that allows the legal employment of foreigners for a short term of 5 to 8 months. Yeongdeok-gun is promoting this by inviting family members from the home countries of marriage immigrants residing in the area.
The foreign seasonal workers who have completed their entry this time, along with the farms that will employ them, will receive training in May on labor standards and the protection of workers' human rights. Yeongdeok-gun will continuously monitor on-site to ensure compliance with working conditions.

Kim Gi-dong, Director of Agricultural Policy, stated, “This program is highly satisfactory for both farms and workers amid the growing difficulties caused by labor shortages in rural areas. We will strive to manage and support the program smoothly in response to the increasing demand for seasonal workers, ensuring mutual trust and respect between foreign seasonal workers and employing farms so that both parties can achieve their desired outcomes.”
