Last Year Global Semiconductor Material Market Sales Down 8.2% Year-on-Year
Last year, global semiconductor materials market sales decreased by 8.2% compared to the previous year.
According to the semiconductor materials market report published by the International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association (SEMI) on the 13th, last year's global semiconductor materials market sales amounted to $66.7 billion (approximately 91.5 trillion KRW).
This represents an 8.2% decline from the record high of $72.7 billion in 2022.
Sales related to wafer materials decreased by 7.0% year-on-year to $41.5 billion, while sales related to packaging materials fell by 10.1% to $25.2 billion.
SEMI analyzed that last year, as the semiconductor industry reduced excess inventory, fab (semiconductor fabrication plant) utilization rates declined and material consumption decreased.
By country, Taiwan ranked first ($19.2 billion), China second ($13.1 billion), followed by South Korea in third place ($10.6 billion). Semiconductor material purchases decreased in all countries except China.
