Volume Drops 60%... Zinus Targets US Market with 'Next-Generation Compression Packaging Technology'
Maximizing Logistics and Delivery Efficiency
Applying 'New Wonder Box' to All Products
Zinus is strengthening its attack on the U.S. market through next-generation compression packaging technology that reduces volume by up to 60% compared to conventional packaging boxes.
Zinus, a mattress and furniture company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced on the 13th that it will apply its second-generation compression packaging, the ‘New Wonder Box,’ to all its mattress and furniture products.
In 2005, Zinus introduced the ‘Roll-Pack Mattress,’ a packaging and delivery method that compresses mattresses into boxes. The Roll-Pack Mattress package allows the product to decompress and restore to its original shape within 72 hours after customers remove the box and plastic packaging. The next-generation packaging technology introduced by Zinus this time can reduce volume by up to 60% compared to existing packaging.

Zinus plans to sequentially apply the new compression packaging technology to all products starting this year. First, new products with the New Wonder Box will be supplied to U.S. customers such as Amazon, and then gradually introduced to major countries worldwide, including South Korea.
Zinus aims to further enhance product competitiveness in the U.S. through the introduction of the New Wonder Box packaging.
The U.S. consumer market operates on a structure where distributors purchase products directly and are responsible for sales and inventory, so logistics and transportation costs significantly affect product procurement. Compared to existing packages, Zinus’s second-generation compression packaging can load up to 60% more products in the same space, allowing customers to greatly reduce logistics and transportation costs.
Price competitiveness is also expected to improve. Zinus exports approximately 7 million mattresses and furniture products annually worldwide via sea freight. Applying the new packaging will increase the loading capacity per export container by nearly 50% compared to before.
Environmental protection benefits are an added bonus. The New Wonder Box features a 20% reduction in paper usage compared to conventional packaging boxes. Zinus expects to reduce paper usage by up to 18,000 tons annually through this. This equates to protecting 306,000 30-year-old trees and preventing 113,400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions generated during paper production.
Zinus plans to start full-scale mattress sales targeting EU countries, where it has mainly sold furniture, and accelerate its market expansion in Latin America centered on Mexico.
