Gangnam-gu Achieves Highest Grade in Manifesto Pledge Implementation Evaluation for the 8th Elected Term
Efforts to Fulfill Pledges Result in 96.6% Achievement Rate for 2023 Goals and 43.3% Pledge Fulfillment Rate, Scoring Higher Than National Average
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) achieved the highest SA grade in the ‘2024 Evaluation of Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure for the 2nd Year of the 8th Local Government Heads’ conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
The Manifesto Evaluation Team conducted an evaluation from February targeting 222 local government heads nationwide as of December 31, 2023, assessing five detailed indicators over the past year: ▲Pledge Implementation Completion ▲2023 Goal Achievement ▲Resident Communication ▲Web Communication ▲Pledge Consistency. As a result, Gangnam-gu received the SA grade, awarded to scores above 83 out of 100. Gangnam-gu’s pledge implementation rate was 43.3%, exceeding the national average of 34.26%, earning high marks in the pledge implementation completion category. The 2023 goal achievement rate recorded 96.6%, also higher than the national average of 89.58%.
The district also received high evaluations in the resident communication category, which involves practicing pledges together with residents. To guarantee resident participation in the pledge implementation process, the district established pledge management regulations and worked on transparent communication by openly disclosing the status of pledge implementation and quarterly inspection results. Efforts were also made to improve web communication by enhancing the homepage main screen for easier access to pledge-related information and reorganizing pledge content.
This year, the district aims to accelerate the promotion of pledge projects to achieve a pledge implementation rate of 63%. To this end, a resident jury panel was operated from February to March to add three new life-oriented projects, ensuring that pledge realization leads to resident convenience. Additionally, the five major goals of the district administration were revised into intuitive expressions that well represent the core values of the 8th local government term, increasing residents’ understanding and interest in the pledges.
