At the opening stage, there were congratulatory performances including the Gogo Janggu opening performance, and a bountiful catch ritual praying for the safety of local fishermen and a good harvest of Hajun clams.
This year’s Hajun Clam Festival (Five Senses Experience Festival) offered a variety of attractions and activities such as a mudflat parade, kite performance, and cooking contest.
In line with the clam festival, a direct clam market was operated so that tourists could purchase clams at affordable prices.
Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “I hope many tourists visit the Hajun Clam Festival site to taste Gochang’s premium clams, rich in flavor and nutrition, and enjoy clam digging experiences with their children in the clean Gochang mudflats, making the most of the family month of May.”
