Prosecutors Indict Disability Support Worker for Assaulting Person with Brain Lesion Disability
A caregiver for the disabled who repeatedly assaulted a woman in her 60s suffering from brain lesions has been brought to trial.
The Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jeong Hyun-seung) announced on the 9th that caregiver A was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities.
According to the prosecution, A is accused of habitually assaulting a woman in her 60s, B, whom she had been caring for for over a year and a half.
Prosecutorial investigation revealed that from March 18th over approximately one month, A assaulted B's thighs, forehead, and cheeks a total of 39 times.
The prosecution obtained materials related to the disability support agency to which A belonged and applied aggravated punishment provisions under the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities. The competent authorities were requested to take administrative action against both A and the disability support agency.

A prosecution official stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure substantial recovery for the victim, including support for medical expenses," and added, "We plan to make every effort to ensure that the defendant receives a sentence commensurate with the crime through thorough prosecution in the future."
