Ulsan City Recruiting 'Sae(Tori) Correspondents' for Citizens
30 People Selected for Local Bird News Notification Program
Ulsan City is recruiting 30 Ulsan ‘Bird Correspondents’ who will share news about birds encountered in daily life.
Any citizen with experience in bird surveys or an interest in birds can apply through the Ulsan City website bulletin board from the 10th to the 19th of this month. If there are many applicants, selection will be based on activity area, similar survey experience, and frequency of activities.
The recruited correspondents will hold an inauguration ceremony in early June and begin full-scale activities. Correspondents will be provided with a certificate of appointment, a vest, and a hat.
Correspondents are expected to take photos of birds they encounter in their daily surroundings and post them on the NatureRing app or provide real-time information via text messages to the Environmental Policy Division or the Ulsan Biodiversity Center.
The operation of the correspondents will be managed by the Ulsan Biodiversity Center. The center will use the information provided by the correspondents as data to secure biodiversity in Ulsan.
Based on the photos and information uploaded by the correspondents, the city will conduct prompt field verification and carry out species protection and habitat conservation activities.
A city official stated, “With the efforts of the Bird Correspondents, we will maintain and develop Ulsan’s status as an international migratory bird city.”
