Busan Metropolitan Office of Education was recognized as the only institution among nationwide metropolitan and provincial offices of education to have concluded honest contracts for seven consecutive years.
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution for Honest Contracts in the School Market (S2B)’ in recognition of its efforts to enhance transparency and integrity in contracts.
The ‘School Market’ is an electronic procurement system designated and announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, operated by the Korea Teachers' Credit Union. Every year, the Credit Union selects and awards educational institutions that have contributed to the establishment of electronic procurement transactions and honest contracts using the School Market.
In 2023, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education was selected as an excellent institution for seven consecutive years in the metropolitan and provincial offices of education category for honest contracts in the School Market. Along with this, the Western Office of Education was chosen as an excellent institution in the education support office category, and Busan Sports High School and Kyungsung Electronics High School were selected as excellent institutions in the school category.
An official from the city education office analyzed, “This achievement is due to 100% of affiliated schools using the School Market to carry out contract tasks, and in terms of the number and scale of uses, it shows the highest level among the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education.”
He added, “It is evaluated that the determination of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education to increase transparency in contract work and the efforts of schools on the ground have borne fruit, and it is also analyzed that this had a positive impact on ranking first among nationwide metropolitan and provincial offices of education in last year’s ‘Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation’ conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.”
The average monthly usage rate of the School Market by schools in the Busan area was 30.5%, more than twice as high as the second-place Jeonbuk Office of Education (14.7%).
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “This achievement is the result of our staff’s efforts to create a transparent and honest contract culture. The city education office will continue to communicate and empathize not only with employees but also with contracting companies to further raise the integrity level in the contract field.”
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is implementing various policies to establish and settle a culture of honest contracts.
