Ulsan City Establishes Implementation Plan to Support Work-Life Balance
Promotion of 19 Projects Across 4 Major Strategies Including Foundation Establishment
Ulsan City announced on the 8th that it will establish and implement the "Work-Life Balance Support Implementation Plan" to address the need for supporting work-family balance amid accelerating demographic changes such as low birth rates and aging, and to respond to the manufacturing-centered industrial structure.
The "Work-Life Balance Support Implementation Plan" is the first implementation plan established since the enactment of the "Ulsan City Work-Life Balance Support Ordinance" in March 2022. Ulsan City conducted related research last April and completed the establishment of the implementation plan this April.
According to the implementation plan, this year the city will promote 19 projects under four major strategies: ▲Creating a foundation for work-life balance support ▲Breaking old labor practices and creating innovative workplaces ▲Spreading work-life balance culture and building networks ▲Building a community of sharing and caring together.
The total project cost is 1.98 billion KRW, and policy research to create a foundation for work-life balance support will also be conducted.
To create innovative workplaces that abandon outdated labor practices, eight projects will be promoted, including discovering and expanding family-friendly certified companies and supporting the selection of youth-friendly small and medium enterprises.
To spread work-life balance culture and build networks, four projects will be carried out, such as cultural performances visiting companies and supporting cultural activities for employees of excellent innovative workplaces and family-friendly certified companies.
To build a community of sharing and caring together, six projects will be promoted, including operating and revitalizing shared childcare centers, expanding national/public and public-type daycare centers, and operating a group of 100 fathers.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "The accelerated entry of the MZ generation, who value work-life balance, into the labor market and the rapid changes in the industrial structure facing the era of artificial intelligence (AI) are expected," adding, "We will do our best to continuously promote work-life balance support policies to realize a Ulsan where work and care are shared and happiness is increased."
