The Semiconductor School is an advanced course of the 'Wafer School' that SK Siltron has been conducting for elementary and middle school students to support semiconductor talent development.
SK Siltron plans to collaborate with Gumi City and the Gumi Chamber of Commerce to educate about 2,700 students from 12 high schools in Gumi through the Semiconductor School, nurturing local talent to lead the future semiconductor industry.
To this end, the company has been recruiting participating high schools since last month. SK Siltron employees and university students majoring in semiconductors from the Gumi area will be trained as career instructors, and more than 100 school visit education sessions will be conducted from July to September.
The Semiconductor School will introduce the status of Gumi, the only non-metropolitan area designated as a semiconductor specialized complex, supplying core semiconductor materials such as wafers and substrates.
It will also provide information on the current status and prospects of the semiconductor industry, semiconductor processes, and related technologies. Additionally, it plans to offer information on local semiconductor industry-related academic advancement and employment to assist future career choices.
Meanwhile, SK Siltron has been conducting the Wafer School program for over 9,300 elementary and middle school students since 2019 to nurture semiconductor talent.
