13th Bar Exam Pass Rates by Law School: Seoul National University - Korea University - Yonsei University Order
Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University ranked highest in the pass rates by law school for the 13th Bar Examination.
According to the statistics of successful candidates for the 13th Bar Examination announced by the Ministry of Justice on the 26th of last month, the pass rates relative to the number of examinees by law school for the 13th Bar Exam were highest for Seoul National University (86.6%), followed by Korea University (77.1%), and Yonsei University (74.2%). Seoul National University was the only school with a pass rate exceeding 80%.
Other law schools ranking in the top 10 for pass rates included Chung-Ang University (69.4%), Sungkyunkwan University (68.5%), Ewha Womans University (61.4%), Hanyang University (60.3%), Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (60%), Kyung Hee University (58.6%), and University of Seoul (55.2%).
Regional universities’ law schools all recorded pass rates lower than the overall pass rate of 53% for all examinees in the 13th Bar Exam. Among universities located in the regions, Chonnam National University had the highest pass rate at 52.5%, ranking 11th overall among law schools, but still below the overall pass rate. Wonkwang University Law School, with 154 examinees, had only 44 passers, resulting in a pass rate of 28.6%, the lowest among all law schools nationwide.
In terms of the number of successful candidates, Seoul National University Law School was also the highest with 162 passers. This was followed by Korea University with 121, Chonnam National University with 114, Sungkyunkwan University with 113, and Yonsei University with 112.
From the 1st Bar Exam held in 2012 through the 13th Bar Exam, the cumulative number of successful candidates was highest at Seoul National University with 1,836. This was followed by Korea University with 1,440, Yonsei University with 1,424, Sungkyunkwan University with 1,370, Chonnam National University with 1,240, Pusan National University with 1,221, Kyungpook National University with 1,220, Ewha Womans University with 1,133, Hanyang University with 88, and Chungnam National University with 1,003. All these schools have an enrollment quota exceeding 100 students. Chungnam National University joined the ranks of law schools with over 1,000 cumulative successful candidates by producing 93 passers in the 13th Bar Exam.
