Bucheon-si, Survey on Living Conditions of Single-Person Households Receiving Livelihood and Medical Benefits
Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it will conduct a survey by next month to ensure the safety and well-being of single-person households receiving the National Basic Livelihood Security benefits.
There are a total of 21,778 households receiving basic livelihood security benefits in the Bucheon area, of which 77% (16,867 households) are single-person households.
The city plans to check the safety and well-being of 13,116 single-person households receiving livelihood and medical benefits, most of whom are vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, or those with illnesses, and investigate their living conditions and social network status.
In particular, elderly single-person households and those aged 50 and over who are unable to work will be prioritized for the survey. Households that have not received low-income volume-based waste bags or have not been issued Culture Nuri Cards will be closely monitored for their living conditions.
If a household is identified as safety-vulnerable, social networks such as elderly life instructors will be connected, and regular well-being checks will be conducted through local human safety networks such as honorary social welfare officers. Additionally, households requiring continuous monitoring will be linked to an artificial intelligence (AI) well-being check service.

A Bucheon city official stated, "Although we are conducting verification surveys to assess the appropriateness of basic livelihood security benefits, it is difficult to grasp living conditions for those whose income and assets have not changed." He added, "Through this survey, we will strengthen follow-up management for low-income groups who lack work ability and social networks, and do our best to build a dense welfare safety net."
