"Golf and Chimaek"... 'Kyochon 1991 Ladies Open' to be Held from the 3rd
'Birthplace of Kyochon' Event Held in Gumi, Gyeongbuk
Various Attractions Including 'Kyochon Archive Zone'
Kyochon F&B, the operator of the chicken franchise Kyochon Chicken, announced on the 2nd that it will host the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) tournament, the "10th Kyochon 1991 Ladies Open," for three days starting from the 3rd at Golfzon County Seonsan in Gumi, Gyeongbuk.
The Kyochon 1991 Ladies Open, which began in 2014 as the "Kyochon Honey Ladies Open," is the only KLPGA tournament in Korea sponsored by a food service franchise. It has established itself as a sports culture festival where golf fans and many customers can enjoy golf along with "chimaek" (chicken + beer) comfortably with family, lovers, and friends. Additionally, by changing the hosting region every year, it contributes to community coexistence and has gained a reputation as a "sharing tournament" that practices various social contribution activities.
This year, marking its 10th anniversary, the tournament holds even greater significance as it is hosted in Gumi, where Kyochon Chicken was born. Kyochon stated, "We have thoughtfully organized various attractions and fun elements, including a 100-seat 'Chimaek Zone' where visitors can watch real-time screen broadcasts while tasting Kyochon Chicken and Kyochon’s premium craft beer brand 'Moonbear.'"
At the entrance of the tournament venue, visitors can immediately see the "Kyochon Archive Zone," where award-winning works from last fall’s "1st Kyochon Memory Contest" and various Kyochon brands can be experienced in one place. Representative and new products from each brand will be introduced, such as "Eunhasu Makgeolli," brewed in limited quantities at a 100-year-old brewery located in Yeongyang, Gyeongbuk, through Kyochon’s subsidiary "Fermentation Workshop 1991," and "Moonbear" craft beer made with pristine underground bedrock water from the Gangwon region.
Both online and offline events have been prepared in a variety of ways. On-site, side events such as prize draws for gallery attendees and 10th-anniversary booth events will heighten the excitement. Online events like "Guess the Winner" and "Find Kyochon in the Broadcast Screen" will also be held on Kyochon’s official Instagram.
Kyochon will continue to raise sponsorship funds through the golf tournament this year as well. The funds will be collected through the "Kyochon 1991 Zone Event," where a certain amount is donated each time a player’s tee shot lands in the "1991 Zone," and the collected amount will be used to support young athletes in the local community where the tournament is held.
