The naming ceremony was attended by K Shipbuilding CEO Kang Yang-su, as well as shipowners and classification society officials. Various events such as champagne breaking and a tour of the vessel were held, and the ships were named ‘NAVE COSMOS’ and ‘NAVE POLARIS’, respectively.

The newly delivered 115,000-ton petrochemical product carriers were contracted in April 2022. Measuring 250 meters in length, 44 meters in width, and 21 meters in depth, the vessels feature improved economic efficiency through continuous hull design development and enhanced fuel efficiency of installed equipment, as well as increased cargo hold space to boost ship efficiency.

In addition, in response to the changing ship market emphasizing eco-friendliness, the vessels are equipped with scrubbers (desulfurization devices) and SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) systems, enabling navigation in sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide emission control areas. They also incorporate an LNG Ready Design, allowing future conversion to LNG-fueled propulsion.

Meanwhile, on the 26th of last month, K Shipbuilding secured an order for four petrochemical product carriers at once, solidifying its reputation and competitiveness in the tanker market and maintaining its strong position in the medium-sized ship market.
