Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, "Enjoy 100% of Red Road's Charm with the Red Road User Manual"
Using the Hongdae Red Road is expected to become much easier in the future.
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) has produced and started distributing a customized complex tourism guidebook for visitors to the Red Road called the "Red Road User Manual."
The Red Road is a tourism-specialized street opened in May last year, featuring red anti-slip coating and color design applied to the street to prevent safety accidents and promote tourism in Hongdae. It is a flagship project of the 8th local government administration.
To unify the previously mixed street names, the Hongdae Red Road was divided into sections from R1 to R10, each with distinctive characteristics. Old facilities were demolished and replaced, and stages, performance venues, and convenience facilities that highlight Hongdae's unique charm were expanded. As a result, both the number of tourists and store sales surged last year.
The "Red Road User Manual" contains essential information in seven categories to fully enjoy the newly revitalized Red Road. The district revealed that the idea for producing the guidebook originated from Mayor Park Gang-su, drawing additional attention.
The main contents of the guidebook include ▲ Red Road map and overview of each section ▲ the origin and explanation of the Red Road mascots Kkaebi and Kkaesun ▲ Red Road power plant ▲ descriptions and maps of sections R1 to R10 ▲ current festivals held on the Red Road ▲ explanations of themed streets and street busking on the Red Road ▲ parking lots and nearby transportation information.
The district plans to distribute a total of 30,000 copies of the Red Road User Manual to travel agencies and tourist information centers nationwide, continuously update usage information, and eventually publish additional guidebooks by themed streets and foreign language editions for international tourists.
