Gyeongnam Province Offers 'Exceptional Support' to Migrating Space Aviation Agency Employees in the Province... Up to 30 Million Won
Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 29th that it will provide unprecedented support such as relocation settlement funds to help employees of the Aerospace Agency, which will open on the 27th of next month, settle in the region.
Gyeongnam Province will provide a ‘Welcome Zero Pay’ worth 100,000 KRW per person as a relocation settlement fund, which can be freely used at restaurants, markets, and other places within the province, to Aerospace Agency employees who relocate to Gyeongnam, including Sacheon.
If relocating with family to the province, cash support of 2 million KRW per family member, up to a maximum of 8 million KRW, will be provided.
Additionally, a childcare support fund of 500,000 KRW per month per preschool child and a scholarship of 500,000 KRW per month per elementary, middle, and high school student will be given for two years.
To receive support, employees must transfer their resident registration to Gyeongnam within three years from the Aerospace Agency’s opening date and reside continuously for more than six months. Applications for the support fund must be submitted within one year after meeting the eligibility conditions.
The province explained that a family of four employees relocating together to Gyeongnam can receive up to 30 million KRW combining relocation settlement funds, childcare support, and scholarships for children.

Separately, the Ministry of Science and ICT will provide about 180 units of LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) national rental apartments free of charge.
In Sacheon City, 50 free rental apartments and housing loan interest support of up to 90% will be provided to Aerospace Agency employees and their families relocating to Sacheon.
Furthermore, Gyeongnam Province will establish new city and intercity bus routes passing through the Aerospace Agency’s temporary office, increase high-speed train services passing through Jinju Station, and promote the reorganization of Sacheon Airport functions.
From the Aerospace Agency’s opening date, the province will introduce city bus routes 500 and 501, operating eight times daily, passing through Sanam-myeon, Sacheon 2nd General Industrial Complex, the Aerospace Agency temporary office, Sacheon Airport, residential complexes, elementary, middle, and high schools, and Sacheon Intercity Bus Terminal.
Intercity bus routes passing through the temporary office, Sacheon Airport, Jinju Station, and Jinju Intercity Bus Terminal will also be established, operating eight times daily.
Intercity buses running from Sacheon City to major cities such as Seoul, Daejeon, and Daegu will operate two to four times daily.
The Ministry of Science and ICT will operate commuter buses between the temporary office and lodging on weekdays, and between the temporary office and Sejong and Daejeon on weekends, support taxi use for late-night employees, and provide shared bicycles.

With the opening of the Bujeon-Masan railway, seven additional daily transfer train services at Masan Station will be secured to increase the number of high-speed train rides to the Seoul metropolitan area from western Gyeongnam.
The Sacheon Aerospace Line, connecting Samcheonpo and Jinju to the Southern Inland Railway, will be included in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s 5th National Railway Network Plan to directly connect Sacheon and Seoul.
Efforts will be made to convert Sacheon Airport into an international airport through functional reorganization, increase airline and flight routes, and build new passenger and cargo terminals by expanding airport land and runways.
These efforts will be reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s 7th Comprehensive Airport Development Plan, along with increasing high-speed train services to the metropolitan area and early opening of the Southern Inland Railway.
The Aerospace Agency will start next month with about 120 personnel, including 55 administrative officials, 50 fixed-term employees, and executives, eventually employing a total of 293 staff.
Gyeongnam Province expects the location of the main office to be decided as early as the end of this year.
